I am proud of the way the speeches made people stop and listen for a minute.

On August 5, 2023, activists gathered around the South Carolina Capitol building to protest against the ending of affirmative action, in support of LGBTQ+ rights, and for student debt relief.

We would like to introduce you to the organizer, Amuno (any pronouns), who worked hard to put this on!

How did the demonstration go and why?

Though there were few people out there today, I am proud of the way the speeches made people stop and listen for a minute.

If you had the chance to make one change to your protest, what would it be and why?

If I had to change one thing is [sic] push for more advertisements. If I were to spread the word and promote the rally more, there would’ve been more people.

Would you plan another demonstration in the future? Why or why not?

I would plan more in the future with now learning the proper planning for rallies and marches. And in my state make it known we are here for change.

What about the protest was your favorite, and why?

My favorite part of the protest was when people stopped and listened to the speeches.

What aspect of activism and becoming an activist is your favorite, and why?

My favorite part of activism is connecting to different people.

What advice would you give to a young person who is new to activism?

Advice I would give to a young person in activism is to be educated, be aware, and importantly make connections in your community.
